3rd and 4th Curriculum
Throughout third and fourth grade the students start to become more independent. Third grade is a new transition for students as they are given more homework and responsibilities within the classroom. Both grades work together to build class unity, but also to help strengthen each other socially as well as academically. Throughout the year we take a variety of field trips. We go to the PAC—Performing Arts Center in Appleton and the Opera House in Oshkosh to observe different performances to help the students appreciate the Fine Arts. We also alternate every year going to Madison to tour the capitol to learn more about our state, as well as our government. Also throughout third and fourth grade they will practice giving speeches. The third graders begin by giving impromptu speeches, where they will be given a topic and they are to keep along the topic for a specific amount of time. The fourth grade takes what they learned from giving impromptu speeches and then give Demonstration and Informational speeches to the class. This helps them with public specking and becoming comfortable talking in front of others. The majority of the curriculum used in third and fourth grade is combined, alternating grade levels every other year. While doing so, Math and Language Arts are separated by grades levels, but also individualized to fit each student’s specific needs to help them succeed! Below you will see the curriculum in which is used in third and fourth grade with a link following if you would like to look more into what each subject covers.

We visit the Capitol to learn more about WI as well as learning how our governmental system works within the state.
